"Some bloke I know said on the internet once" isn't proof I'm afraid OtB.

Sven, their gripe is with The Sun in particular, not the entire Murdoch empire.

Sky Sports
Also owned by Murdoch. If Liverpool fans are so exercised they should cancel any subscriptions and demand the club returns the tv money.

I don't read the current bun.

Can the scallies come up with something I CAN boycott, to show me solidarity, like.

Liverpool."

I've seen this bandied about quite a bit lately, without any evidence.

Would you like to please provide some?

There were hundreds of them sitting on the steps in the aisles of the Europa leagues final a couple of years ago as they'd somehow managed to get themselves in

Re: Hillsborough
I'm not suggesting it wouldn't have happened to us or anything like that - from what I've heard on here it was an accident waiting to happen and it sounds like we came pretty close.

What I am saying is that I would like to think that we (and most other Clubs, come to that) would have the humility to accept that we played a part in the tragedy too. It's the idea that they had nothing to do with it that grates.

Someone pointed out at the start of this thread that, miraculously, this was the only match in the era where that stuff wasn't going on - apparently.

Re: Hillsborough
Actually, there weren't many rip-offs on here, and the culprits were swiftly outed.

That's how I recall it, anyway.

Re: Hillsborough
It IS healthy to remind people that a lot of the behaviour of ground authorities and police at that time was because fans (including us) often behaved like cunts.
Not that anyone ever deserves to die at a football match but there is a lot of selective memory amongst the Scousers about what fans were like.
As some have said on here they were proud of their reputation of being able to get in without paying and robbing everywhere they went.

Unquestionably. Just healthy to remind people of a few facts while they spout off.

Re: Hillsborough
Anyone who thinks West Ham are too high and might to rob off our own obviously don't recall the many ticket rip-offs that have happened on here over the years.

Re: Hillsborough
Sven They stole mail bags containing cup final tickets in 2006. This meant no one of the several hundred nicked tickets went as duplicates weren't re printed

Re: Hillsborough
Would we have admitted that the behaviour of some of our fans had contributed to what happened or would we have been applying for Sainthoods all round?
Justice is very welcome especially in regard to the lying and criminality of the cover up and evidence tampering but a lot of what football fans had done unto them in the 80's was a reaction to their own behaviour.

Of course Liverpool fans were still rushing gates and stealing tickets out of the hands of their own fellow fans at the Champions League final in 2007

Exactly right, sir. I've been in situations following West Ham in which things could easily have turned seriously pear-shaped.
The whole football crowd behaviour/management issue in the 70s and 80s was an accident waiting to happen.
